L 26-28 cm, WS 42-46 cm.
This an unmistakable bird with its long curved bill and black-tipped crest. Its pulage is pinkish-cinnamon and tail and rounded wings are barred black and white. It has a crest which is normally lowered.

 

Habitat:Hoopoe is common in cultivated country, parks, woods, gardens. It feeds on insects and larvae and nests in a hole in tree or ruin.
