L 19-21 cm, WS 36-40 cm.
It is a slim, pale, long-necked and long-legged wader. In summer plumage, it has grey with dirty-white spots above and its legs are greenish.

Habitat:Wood Sandpiper occurs at swampy bogs, scrub and woodlands. It nests on bogs and mosses and feeds on insects worms and tadpoles.
