L 6l-67 cm, WS 121-145 cm.
It is a large, deep buff-brown bird with paler head. It has black wing tips and tail and white wing patch in flight. Its bill and legs are black. Male has black neck-ring as well.

 

Habitat:It occurs locally at lakes and swamplands, deltas and rivers. Ruddy Shelduck nests in the rocky places and hollows. It feeds on plants, mollusks and larvae.
