L 55-65 cm, WS 80-95 cm.
It is a large, dark bird with a curved bill. Plumage is purplish-brown, wings and tail is glossed-green, legs are brown. In winter plumage, it has brown bill, indistinct white loral streak and pale streaks on neck and head.

 

Habitat:It is common on flood lands and in shallow marshes. It nests colonially in reedbeds, bushes or trees. Glossy Ibis feeds on small water dwelling animals, insects and worms.
