L 3 1-33 cm, WS 40-42 cm.
It has green plumage with yellow green rump in flight and red on its head. Its crown and nape is red. Male has a red moustachial stripe, female has black one.

Habitat:Green Woodpeckers occur in mixed woodlands, open countries. It nests in hole in tree.
