L 15-16 cm.
In breeding season, male has grey crown, black mask, pale throat and grey mantle. It has white rump and black wings,black and white tail markings. Winter male is browner.Female is browner as well, but lack other distinctive field marks.

Habitat:Northern Wheatear occurs at open treeless country, tundra, moorland. It feeds on insects.
