L 27-29 cm, WS 44-49 cm.
Unmistakable with central tail feathers. It is mainly blue-green. It has chestnut head and mantle, yellow rump and throat, black breast-band and broad eye stripe. Its underwing colour is chestnut with black edge.

Habitat:Bee-eaters occur in open country, breed colonially in holes in sandbanks. It feeds on insects, especially bumblebees.
