L 33-38 cm, WS 52-58 cm.
Little Bittern is a heron-like bird with a prominent whitish wing patch which is giving male in particular a strong dark/light contrast in flight. Female is browner and more streaked below.

Habitat:It is often common in wetlands with dense vegetation, especially reedbeds. It feeds on fish, frogs, insects and small animals. Its nests are near water.
