L 44-47 cm, WS 80-92 cm.
It is a small brownish heron. It is appearing largely white in flight. It is mainly tawny buff with wings. Its tail and belly are white. It has yellow iris, yellow-green face, bill and legs. In breeding season it has crown.

Habitat:Squacco Herons are common in well vegetated wetlands, also found on rivers. Its nests are colonially in trees and reeds, often with other herons.
