L 17 cm.
It is a dark-legged and dark-billed pipit. Its underpart is grey-brown, outer tail feathers are both white. In breeding season, it has pinkish buff, unstreaked breast and grey head.

Habitat: Water Pipit occurs at mountain tops, alpine meadows with small trees and scrub. It nests in crevice in rocks.
