L 19-21 cm, WS 32-35 cm.
It is a small wader with short legs and long tail. It looks uniform dark grey-Its buff above with white abdomen. Its flight is usually low over water. Its long tail and prominent white wing-bars are characteristic.

 

Habitat: Common Sandpiper is common in freshwater streams and lakes, many inland waters. It nests at the edge of lakes and rivers and feeds on insects, larvae, worms, frogs and tadpoles.
