Towards 21 th century, studies which are examininig what the 2000´s will bring have been carried out in many countries even by producing scenarios. Humanity, by using scieritific data and imagination, is henceforth willing to see what the upcoming century will bring. It is known that these researches have been carried out with a wide range of staff and possibilities. It is also known that extensive environmental studies have taken the most significant place in all these revearches. With the aim of utilizing the biological resources in an harmless way in the new working fields and making them profitable, intensive studies have been carried out in the countries especially which biologic and ecologic resources are rich.

Our main purpose, as human beings, is to understand the biological diversity of our country, in a larger perspective of our world. on the other hand, this way of thinking is also important for the long termed economic development of the countries. Because the basis of the national economy depends on natural resources under any condition and we support every kind of initiatives which presents alternative working fields. But, as scientists, we are going to be opposed to the investments which destroy the nature of simple benefits. The problem on the agenda is that, the place of man in the balance of nature could not have been defined with its exact limits. As a productive living, man has undertaken the responsibilitiy of both providing the continuity of the planet he is living on, and following the tecnological development. To keep these global values in balance is very hard in today´s circumstances. We are living with a reality which we shall never forget: This blue planet can be resembled to a spaceship. Astronaut´s time, food and fuel in the spaceship are limited. Just like us on the earth...

The revised version of this guidebook includes the results of a scientific project which has been planned for the determination of natural resources in Antalya-Belek and for the use of these resources in tourism.

You will find information about 100 bird species watched between July 1994-August 1995 in Belek and its region. All the information in the book take only the data obtained by one-to-one observation in the field circumstances as a basis. Our aim is to create a source book for the bird-watcher´s who are going to visit the region and to gather the data of an area which has not been studied under an organized project before. We put our findings we obtained from our studies int practice in Belek together with the people working in tourism sector. And we have seen that without changing the nature, the continuity of tourism can be provided. We are ready to share the beauties with everyone who takes this as an invitation.
