Biennial or perennial herbs. Stem erect, branched above. Leaves opposite, lower leaves oblong or lyrate or pinnatisect; upper leaves pinnatisect with linear segments. Capitula radiant. Involucral bracts lanceolate to cuspidate, shorter than flowers. Calyx long-stipitate. Corolla lilac to pink to bluish-mauve; petals united at the base. Involucel 8-grooved; corona up to 2 mm. Fl. May-August. Roadsides, dry fields, dimes, s.l.
