Shrubs or trees. Stem up to 25 m. Leaves alternate, imparipinnate;
leaflets elliptical. Inflorescence pendulous raceme, many- flowered. Calyx campanulate. Petal fragrant, free at the base, white, up to 20 mm, the base of the standart yellow. Legume up to 10 cm, glabrous, 3-10-seeded. Flowers medicinal. Fl. April-June. Naturalised in woodland etc., especially along the Black Sea coast. Planted as a street tree.
