Aquatic annual plants. Leaves submerged and finely dissected into capillary ultimate segments. Peduncle in fruit usually 5-6 cm. Flowers solitary. Sepal 5. Petals free, white with a yellow base, usually 5, 9-25 mm. Receptacle hairy, somewhat elongated. Carpels less than 1 mm, somewhat rounded glabrous or slightly hairy at base of the style. Fl. January-September.
