Aromatic trees or shrubs, up to 6 m. Leaves alternate, deciduous, imparipinnate or paripinnate; leaflets, 2-4-paired or more, ovate or oblong-lanceolate; rachis not winged. Flowers brownish, in rather dense long-branched panicles. Fruit egg-shaped, 5-7 mm long, reddish at first, becoming brown later. Fruits edible. Fl. March-May. Rocky slopes, macchie and pseudomacchie, Pinus brutia forest.
