Dioecious, small evergreen tree or shrub, to 3 m. Leaves alternate, paripinnate; leaflets 2-4 paired or more, oblong or oblong-lanceolate, shortly mucronate; rachis winged. Flowers in rather dense panicles or spikes, the male with dark red anthers the female greenish, fruit globose, 4-5 mm, red but becoming black later, shiny, fruits edible. Fl. March-April. Macchie.
