Medium-sized tree up to 25 m. Twigs glabrous, usually reddish in the first year, becoming greyish brown, rarely all greyish and leaves up to 18 cm, flaccid, light green. Buds without resins, the scales recurved and fimbriate. Cones elongate, brown, usually more than 2 borne together. Peduncules very short to almost absent. Seeds winged.
