Annual herbs. Stem up to 50 cm, hirsute below. Lower leaves lyrate-pinnatisect; the terminal lobe larger than the
lateral lobes, all irregularly serrate. Peduncles adpressed-setose. Petals free, red, with a broad black blotch at base. Capsule obconical slightly ribbed, up to 1,5 cm. Leaves edible. Fl. March-June, fields, hillsides, dunes.
