Paliurus spina-christi(CHRIST'S THORN) (Karaçalı, çaltı) (Christusdorn) Rhamnaceae Much-branched, black shrubs. Stem up to 3 m, with zig-zags. Stipules spiny. Leaves alternate, decidious, ovate, short-stalked. Flowers free, in cymes, small, yellow, 4-5 mm, borne in small lateral cluster. Fruit conspicuous disc, up to 35 mm diameter, membranous wing, dry and yellowish-brown when ripe. Medicinal. Fl. May-July. Gorges, river valleys, clearings and waste places, s.l. Türkiye, S.
