Evergreen shrubs or small trees. Stem erect, with latex, up to 6 m.
Leaves in whorls of 3, very narrowly elliptic, up to 30 x 3 cm, coriaceous. Inflorescence in terminal pedunculate cymes. Calyx up to 7 mm. Corolla united at the base, rose or red, infundibular, up to 4,5 cm. Fruit separating into 2 follicles, up to 18 cm. Ornamental. Poisinous. Fl. April- September. Banks of streams and in seasonally dry beds of water-courses, s.l.

Mediterranean area.
