Perennial herbs. Stems erect, up to 45 cm. Leaves ovate to elliptic, up to 11 x 5,5 mm. Inflorescence long and usually lax. Verticillasters densely globose-hemispherrical. Calyx cylindrical, up to 3,5 mm. Petals united, mauve or pink. Fruit dry nutlets. Stem and leaves are used as tea. Fl. May-July. Rocky slopes and crev ices (often limestone), open Pinus brutia forest, macchie phrygana, s.l.
