Malva sylvestris(COMMON MALLOW) (Ebegümeci) (Wild Malva) Malvaceae Biennial or perennial herbs. Stem erect to ascending, up to 1 m. Leaves alternate, orbicular, 5-7-lobed, crenate. Flowers in fascicles in leaf axils, and clusters at the branch apices. Epicalyx segments free, linear to oblong or narrowly ovate. Sepals broadly triangular. Petals free, emarginate, mauve to pink, 4 or more x longer than than the sepals. Fruit schizocarp, glabrous. Leaves edible. Fl. May-October. Scrub, fields, open places. Europe, N. Africa, S.W.
