Perennial herbs. Stem erect or decumbent, glabrous, up to 80 cm. Leaves opposite, ovate-triangular-lanceolate;
the uppermost sometimes black-glandular-ciliate, usually densely pellucid-dotted. Sepals oblong with black glands. Petals free, yellow, with or without black dots or streaks towards the apex. Fruit a capsule, with oil glands and orange warts. Medicinal. Fl. April-June. Damp meadows and shady places among rocks.

Türkiye, S. Europe, Cyprus, N.W. Africa.
