Deciduous shrubs. Stem branched, up to 3 m. Leaves opposite, elliptic-lanceolate, up to 4,5 x 1,5 cm .
Inflorescence shortly paniculate, axillary and terminal. Calyx 4-lobed.
Corolla creamy white, up to 3 mm, aromatic odour. Fruit a flat samara,
1 -2-seeded. Fl. April. Mostly in dry rocky places in macchie, Pinus brutia forest or mixed deciduous woodland, sometimes on waste ground.
