Shrubs. Stem prostrate or climbing, up to 5 m; branches lax, arched, scrambing and brittles, striate. Leaves opposite, reduced to sheaths at the nodes. Male flowers up to 10 per fascicle, 2-4 fascicles per node. Female flowers in pairs. Fruit berry like, red, 8-9 mm. Medicinal. Rocks, garique.
