Evergreen, dense shrubs. Stems erect, up to 100 cm. Leaves alternate, elliptic or elliptic-oblanceolate, coriaceous, up to 45 x 11 mm. Flowers in terminal and axillary clusters of 5-10, sessile, fragrant. Calyx absent. Corolla tubular, pink fading to brownish-yellow, up to 17 mm. Fruit an ovoid berry, orange-red. Potential ornamental. Poisionous. Fl. February-May. On limestone, serpentine and shale, open Pinus brutia forest, Quercus coccifera-Arbutus macchie, s.l.
