Decidious tree up 16 m., with a spreading crown. Leaves opposite, heart-shaped, up to 30 cm long. Flowers bell-shaped, 2-lipped, white, with two rows of yellow spots within and numerous purple dots, up to 35 cm. long, borne in large terminal panicles. Fruit linear, slender, dark brown, up to 40 cm, pendent.
Fl. June-July. Widely grown in parks and large gardens, occasionally as a street tree.

Native of South-East asia.
