Annual, succulent glabrous herbs, with a long tap root. Stem prostrate or ascending up to 40 cm. Lower leaves pinnate or pinnatifid; the lobes oblong or more rarely toothed; upper leaves sessile and entire. Petals free, white, lavender or rose, borne in dense congested racemes which elongate considerably in fruit, 11x4 mm. Fruiting pedicel thick, erect-spreading Siliqua 20-25 mm, glabrous, 2-parted, both indehiscent; lower segment with an arrow-shaped base, 2-seeded; the upper oblong-ovate, a single seeded. Fl. June-August. Sandy and shingly shores.
