ovate, less than 2 x as long as broad, margin usually entire. Inflorescence a - erect panicle with 6-10 branches. Sepals united at the base. Corolla urceolate, deciduous, greenish-white. Fruit a berry, orange, papillae flattened horizontally. Seed few. Fruits edible. Potential ornamental. Fl. March-May. Macchie, Pinus brutia forest, on igneous, serpentine tine and limestone substrata, s.l.
Es. Mediterranean area to Crimea and Sochi (E. Black Sea coast), Cyprus W. Syria and Lebanon, with an outlier in N. Iraq.
