Perennial herbs. Stems prostrate, arising from a much-branched stock. Leaves alternate, ovate to suborbicular, up to 10 x 6,5 mm. Male flowers: sepals yellow-green; petals white. Female flowers: sepal dark green, with a narrow whitish margin. Fruit subglobose schizocarpic. Fl. March-August. Open forest, stony places, fallow fields, etc., s.l.

Mediterranean area, S. to Somalia, &.S.W. Asia Es. to N. W. India.
