Deciduous, shrubs, up to 3 m, with a strong odour, rather laxly branched. Leaves alternate, trifoliolate. Leaflets elliptic. Flowers arranged in short lateral raceme. Calyx campanulate. Corolla free, yellow, up to 25 mm; standard with a dark, blackish, blotch at base. Fruit a legume, stalked, pendant, linear-oblong up to 20 x 2 cm. Seeds poisionous. Fl. March-May. Rocky slopes and deciduous woodland, s.l.
