Low annual herbs. Stems prostrate or ascending, up to 70 cm. Leaves opposite, occasionally whorled, ovate to oblong-ovate, up to 19 x 11 mm. Flowers axillary; whorls 2-4-flowered. Calyx deeply 5-partite. Corolla rotate, blue, margin of lobes crenate-serrate. Fruit a capsule, globose, circumscissile. Fl. March-August. Sea shore, cultivated land, rocky limestone slopes, clay and sandy soil in scrub, chalky cliffs, s.l.

Türkiye, Europe, N. W. Africa, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan.
