Perennial herbs. Stem erect, up to 1,5 m. Leaves alternate, simple to weakly 5-7-lobed. Epicalyx segments 6, connate at base. Calyx not striate in flower, becoming somewhat striate later. Petals free, up to 50 mm, white, pink or lilac, usually with yellowish at base. Fruit schizocarp. Medicinal. Fl. June-September. Roadsides, fields, steppe, banks.
